All my emails from the end of August 2016 to the start of December 2016 are missing i.e. Inbox, Sent, Trash, Drafts etc. I think I clicked to "Archive" at one stage without fully knowing what that meant. If they are archived, can I access them? If not is there any way I can get them back? I recently lost everything on my computer, but got it most of it back, but I do not think that was the cause, as I have Thunderbird on my laptop and tablet too & the same emails are missing in those places as well. It is the emails for the month of November I particularly want back.

Wrt archiving see https://support.mozilla.org/kb/archived-messages

Beyond that: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Disappearing_mail

That is the expected behavior when your account is set up as IMAP on all devices, and messages are removed from the server on one device. The result is mirrored to all other devices.

I recently lost everything on my computer

Then you hopefully learned from that incident and now create backups of your Thunderbird profile on a regular basis. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profiles-tb#w_backing-up-a-profile
