The latest version is invasive like Google to me. Can no longer use the central search box on the home page - get diverted to the top taskbar search bar every time. Its rubbish now! Cannot search normally. Using Windows 10 x64 with DuckDuckGo.

I realize that there have been improvements in speed/performance, and there's been an attempt to relocate stuff to where people have been looking for it, etc. That's great, truly.

I realize that you can download "themes" to change the color scheme, and that you can even, theoretically, change the color scheme yourself using yet another add-on. That's... a good option to have, but I hate that I have to either put up with what to me is a genuinely revolting change, or devote time and resources to try (and so far fail) to restore key elements of the interface I liked and was comfortable with.

What I can't figure out how to do is to make the tabs at the top non-transparent, or at least bring back a dividing line like Chrome has. I thought I found the setting, but it didn't have any effect. The lack of any sort of division between the words on the tabs makes it all just seem busier and more overwhelming. Thanks for the tiny added bit of stress! (And no, there is no color scheme or "soothing" picture that will make it less stressful to see all my tabs strung together like an endless garbled string of text. Most just make it busier, and therefore worse.)

Frankly, I've always thought of Firefox as the most comfortable and friendliest-seeming interface. Now, on a purely gut-emotional level, it seems more impersonal and offputting than Chrome, and that's saying a lot! I sincerely wish that one of the default theme options was "Look like the default did before, or at least as close as possible."

I'm not going to leave Firefox unless they remove the "always check before closing multiple tabs" behavior, because I rely on that to keep me from accidentally losing work. But I wish software companies would respect that some people don't want their UIs completely changed without warning or permission or a way to go back!

This is a boldfaced lie. The theme that has the color scheme I (and I'm fairly certain JLMullins) would like is System - the theme that's supposed to respect the operating system color scheme and which is installed by default. Thanks to version 89, that has now been sabotaged. The menu bars no longer obey the system appearance.

On top of that, tabs have now been stripped of their dividing lines. This makes distinguishing between them significantly more of a headache. So v89 is not only aesthetically inferior, it's substantially less functional. That is HARDLY "the best browsing experience".

You're Mozilla. You're supposed to be more competent than the Edge, Opera, and Chrome developers - up until now, you've had the sense to leave aesthetics well enough alone (unlike those chuckleheads). I've trusted you for years. But if this self-vandalism disguised as "modernization" is a sign of how you're proceeding in the future? I'd almost be better off with Netscape Navigator 4.8

I'm reverting. This change has made the browser ugly to look at and harder to use.

I am going to agree with linksmower. I have been using Firefox since Netscape disappeared. The response by seburo is abysmal. He must have worked for Amazon in the past. We know what is good for you, so there.

By the way, trying to open another window using the shift key does not work. I tried it on Mr. Seburo's link and wound up here again.

We need color schemes, or tools to get them, than look better than this pieces of white paper that now appears on the screen.

We need color schemes, or tools to get them that we can set ourselves to preserve the look we've been using for decades. I fail to see why the theme change could not have preserved the previous them, even if the layouts and some of the features were otherwise changed.

It's not just annoying or less functional but is actually making me struggle and stress out trying to visually process my browser 

screen.

WHAT WAS THE POINT of removing the tabs' edges, which very clearly demarcated the tabs so that they could be distinguished from each other by the unconscious mind in mere nanoseconds only to replace them with a foggy mess that takes MUCH LONGER for the eyes-brain to navigate across and between them?

I use a specific color scheme which I have been using for my entire Windows life, and this version obliterates my choices. Please make it possible to choose our color themes, similar to the way it was done in Windows 2000. I understand the need to improve safety, but style changes like the ones in v89 are worse than useless.

A lot of users have observed that the "System" theme doesn't reflect their OS colors. I don't know if or exactly how it is supposed to adapt. Until that is sorted, you can take direct control of the colors used on your toolbars with the following extension:

Unfortunately, that does not address the issue about the lack of separators between inactive/background tabs. If you find that the site icon isn't enough of a separator, you could look at some other workaround options:
