One computer FF unable to connect, IE works; other computer both work; both run XP & ZoneAlarm Extreme; both set up the same way. Have tried the directions on support for "FF cannot load websites but other programs can."

ZA Extreme is set up the same for both computers. Both are running off the same router. I've exchanged cables to the router; rebooted the router. I tried installing the latest version of FF on the computer that could not connect; FF worked following the install, but when I rebooted the computer, FF again was unable to connect. Subsequent uninstalls & re-installs failed to fix.

Both computers had ZA Extreme renewed, but were working fine following the renewal for a week. Have run virus scan on computer with FF not connecting-- no change.

I'm sending this on the computer that runs FF, but both are running the same version of FF

This post from the ZoneAlarm Support site seemed to have the answers - at least FireFox is now working again for me.

It gives several answers. The one that worked for me was as follows, except I did not have/run CCleaner:

How to reset Firefox :

A corrupt profile can cause various problems with Firefox. You could create a new profile using Profile Manager.I prefer to reinstall Firefox.

Backup your Bookmarks(.json) to a folder of your choice. You will need it to restore it later.Uninstall Firefox and do not save your settings when asked. After uninstalling Firefox run CCleaner.

Install Firefox. When installing Firefox select do nothing when ask to import from IE.Restore .json backup file you saved to restore your Bookmarks.Configure all your Firefox settings.Install Add-ons and Plugins.
