I downloaded FF4 a couple of days ago. At first, it seemed like it was working pretty well, but I got it in my head to tweak some of the menu items that I wasn't happy with (I hate the "add-on bar").

After trying various ways to change menu elements, I somehow ended up losing my Awesome Bar entirely, as well as my "reload" and "back" icons. And damned if I can figure out what I did or how to undo it! Nor have I been able to find any info on how to get a missing Awesome Bar back

Can anyone help? Thanks!

Right-click the Tab bar and see if Navigation Bar has a check-mark next to it. If not click on that contextual menu item.

If that doesn't fix it, use Customize in that menu, and then use the Restore Default Set button at the bottom of the Customize Palette.

Thanks!

Actually, right-clicking within the tab bar brought up a different menu, but right-clicking in the empty space above it brought up a menu that allowed me to click on "Navigation Bar", which brought that back, albeit in a really kludgy form.

So, with that done, I managed to get the address box back and, with some dragging things around, I managed to get it next to the "Back", "Forward", "Reload" and "Stop" buttons.

Now I need to figure out how to get my bookmarks toolbar back (despite that item supposedly being selected in the menu), and move the FF button down next to the aforementioned buttons so that it's not commandeering an entire row above it. And it would be great to replace those "Back", "Forward", "Reload" and "Stop" text buttons with small icons.

Any suggestions? Thanks again!

Right-click a blank area of a Toolbar and select Customize, at the bottom of the Customize Palette there is a pref tick-box for Use Small Icons.

If the Bookmarks Toolbar is showing, but your Bookmarks are missing, take a look in the Palette for the item called Bookmarks Toolbar Items - that has to be on a Toolbar for you to be able to see the bookmarks that are in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.

When you have Tabs on Top selected and the Firefox window is Maximized, the Tab-strip will move up into the Titlebar next to the orange Firefox button. When the browser window is less than Maximized, the Titlebar is shown wasting a lot of space. It may work slightly different depending upon the operating system, but that is how it works in WinXP - as far as Maximized vs. non-maximized goes.

Thank you, Edmeister! Now the icons are much smaller.

Strangely, the "Bookmarks toolbar items" icon only showed up in the toolbar when the palette was open, but it was on the bottom row, just above the tabs. When I closed the palette, it would disappear. So I dragged it up one row, closed the palette, and now all of my bookmarks are visible. Yay!

So, with the "customize" palette open, I was able to drag the "back", etc., icons and the address box up to the top row, next to that immovable FF icon, thus shortening the rows by one. However, now there's an empty row between the bookmarks and the tabs! I can't seem to drag it anywhere, and selecting/deselecting toolbars in that menu doesn't seem to change things.

Any ideas?

Oh, and when should I click "Solved it" on the page? -after all of my questions have been answered? -or after each?

Thanks again!
