Recently Firefox stopped working on my parent's computer, and I haven't been able to fix it - it simply won't launch.

I have tried a clean installation, creating a new profile, and running in safe mode (using the run commands), but none of these have done anything. In fact, even when I attempt to run the profile feature or safe mode, these will not launch either.

Firefox does not appear in the task manager, and as far as I know this problem has not arisen after any kind of update or plugin/addon installation.

Can anyone help?

This is on a 32 bit Win XP computer.

Did you check the security software on that computer?

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
