Thunderbird not accepting my password for the SMPT server
Hi there,
I have looked for hours on your site on how to get thunderbird sending emails, I have attached this to my outlook account and used all the correct IMAP/Port/Server settings that are displayed.
For some reason when I go to send an email, it says to me that "login to server smtp.office365.com with username ****myusername**** failed" THEN it says "Unable to authenticate outgoing server (SMTP). Please check the password & verify the 'Authentication Method' in account settings, Outgoing Server (SMTP)" I have done all the above multiple times, I have even tried other settings, and it STILL DOES NOT WORK.
I would greatly love some help with this as it is now becoming very tasking and frustrating. Please can someone help me out ASAP as I would love to start making use of Thunderbird.
Thanks - Max!

It will help if you post screenshot of your SMTP server setting pane.
Hi David - please see attached, I am guessing this is what you mean. FYI - the description has also been 'Microsoft 365' with the same settings, also did not work. I have cropped out my email for obvious reasons. Thanks!
Thought worthwhile to show the pop up I am getting. As mentioned I have tried changing the Authentication method to Normal Password - still nothing. Thanks
Did you contact with email support? You should check your settings with them.
are you including your full email address in the SMTP setting - everything including the @ and all to the right?
Yes David - of course my full email is in the SMTP setting, and it is all correct. Pavelko - I have been looking everywhere for a phone number or an email support number for Thunderbird / Mozilla and cannot find one anywhere, the customer service is appalling - do you have an email support you can give me? If so that would be great. Thanks
Please keep in mind that customer support is free, as is thunderbird. Very few people donate to support this, and many who do believe that a once-in-a-lifetime donation of $10 is 'support.' For that reason, support is just this forum. Further, most problems have nothing to do with Thunderbird, but are related to users needing help in figuring our their own account preferences. Okay, now that I've stated that, it appears that your problem may lie with the password. My suggestion is to remove whatever password is already there with these steps: - click to settings>privacy&security - click savedpasswords and showpasswords - then highlight rows for the account and delete them - at this point, thunderbird has no password for the account, so when you next request messages, thunderbird will prompt for it.

Mozilla/Thunderbird does not provide an email service. Thunderbird connects to email service only. Contact to your email box provider support. Got it?
