Ever since I downloaded the recent update of Firefox I've been having a major problem with ads popping up on every site; you simply can't stop them.
When I'm in my email ads pop up and push the file listing down on the page. If you use "x" to close the ad another pops up in its place. This happens on every web site that I go to. In fact it just popped up on this page advertising orbitz rewards. If this is part of the new update then I'm not a happy camper! Hope you can tell me how to end this problem?

Unfortunately, there are many unofficial distributors for Firefox who advertise on search engines in order to get you to install their crap.
Could you go to the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, and click the "Installed on" column heading to see whether you got Firefox bundled with other things? Try removing anything unrecognized.
Within Firefox, check for one or more unwanted extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or remove).
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that flush the ads?
You may also want to run some of the tools listed in the following support article to mop up any lingering junk: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and get a good add blocker.

Can this be written in more detail for those of use that are not as computer savvy.
Mozilla Add-Ons Web Page leads me nowhere.
Hi HowieE, before looking for a new add-on to suppress the ads, investigate whether an existing add-on might be injecting them. Did you try the steps in this post: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1002803#answer-580391 Please run through that and see whether it helps and let us know.
You can do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
