Firefox Logo Missing from Desktop Icon - see Windows generic icon instead with no logo; please help?
Dear Community,
All of my other desktop icons render as normal .... strangely the Firefox logo has disappeared from the icon. I can still use the icon/shortcut without issue, but the logo is missing and replaced by some type of generic looking icon. Any ideas please? Thank you in advance.

Hi lgrant124, Try deleting that shortcut (send it to the Recycle Bin) and then click on Start and drag Firefox out to your desktop. It should create a new shortcut with the Firefox icon.
If that doesn't work, you will want to look into re-building your Thumbnail & Icon caches.
Lately I seem to be having the same problem. When I start up my PC, the Firefox Icon is gone and the Windows generic Icon takes it's place. The Icon still works fine and starts Firefox normally. I've uninstalled Firefox, reinstalled the program, and the Icon is now there. When I did a restart, the Icon again disappears and I have that Windows generic Icon again. I've also tried clearing and resetting my Thumbnail & caches but I don't think I did that correctly. This seems to have started with the last Firefox update. I'm using Windows 10 Home, Ver 1909 (build 18363.815), and Firefox 76.0 (64-bit).
Well my PC downloaded and installed about a 40 minute Windows 10 upgrade and now my Firefox Icon is back on my desktop. Will wonders ever quit?
