Since I've got a new desktop computer and installing the latest firefox update my computer doesn't sign off websites, MF has my preference above IE please help
Since installing mozilla firefox 17.01 on my new desktop it's impossible for me to close down websites, some of them close automatically after 30 minutes, others stay open. The only thing that helps is a rough closure by shutting the desktop down and restart. E-mail programms will open but I can't read them or change to the spamfilter so I can see whether there are some mails in it that should not be. The only thing to get to my e-mail is Internet Explorer and that programm is one I can't stand. So please help me patch this up.

Does Firefox close as well or do only the tabs close?
It is possible that Firefox crashes for some reason.
See:
Set the Integer pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.
Thanks for your reaction. It's not the problem that firefox doesn't close and there are no signs of crashing. It's only the sites that I visit that don't close under firefox but do close under Internet Explorer. Because this problem occurs as soon as I want to close a site I've visited. I use Windows7. I can open my e-mailbox but I can't open any mails. I can't get into my spamfilter to see if some mails are by mistake in it. So that's not working neatly. For some reason firefox isn't working well with the last version in combination with the microsoft programms I use. I think the solutions lies in compatability. At the moment I am forced to use Internet Explorer and I don't like that but under that programm I can get into my mails and spamfilter. So I hope this problem will get it's solution soon.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
If you can't log off from websites then it is possible that there is a problem with the cookies.
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
