I installed a couple of add-ons today (dictionary.com and Image search for tineye). I know they both installed successfully because they appear on my extensions page.

However, I don't see and can't find the icons for them on my toolbar absolutely anywhere. I even tried removing a couple of other add-on icons (pinterest) in case it's a matter of there not being enough room.

Speaking of room, in removing the those icons, the address and search bars became longer and now it looks as if nothing else will fit next to it--the only thing still remaining is the three bar icon to access Firefox tools

I've tried to attach a snipping tool screenshot of my toolbar, but it is taking too long to load.

I've experienced this before and I have to tell you that I am no longer going to install Firefox add-ons. It should be a simple process and it's not and only frustrates me. What good are having add-ons there's no easy way to access them on my toolbar?

Thank you

The Location Bar / Search Bar combination automatically resize to fill the Navigation Toolbar. The 'combo' will resize to allow for addition of toolbar "buttons" - but only down to certain size. And as James mentioned, toolbar buttons can be added to a Toolbar when in the Customize mode.

One more thing, if a "button" is placed between the Location Bar and the Search Bar the automatic resizing can go "ker-fluey" if or when the browser window is made smaller than "Maximized". When that happens the user gets a >> (double-ellipsis) and the "overflow" for too many "buttons" added to that Toolbar; although that can happen when there aren't "too many", due to that "separation". Australis (Firefox 29 an later versions) just doesn't 'like' the Location Bar and the Search Bar being separated.

Neither of these Extensions seem to have a toolbar icon so why were you expecting one to exist for each?

The Image Search for Tineye extension you just right-click a image.

The dictionary.com extensions seems to be say a popup or right-click on page features.

Any Extensions that do provide a toolbar icon they can be in the toolbar Customize panel.

Thank you for that info. As to why I expected to see an icon on my toolbar--because it reminds me I have those add-ons and it seems (to me) more intuitive than remembering to right-click. And--not to start a UI discussion about it, but icons are how I implement most tools and apps. Thanks again.

@ the-edmeister: thank you for the info. In messing around n the nav bar trying to change the length of the address/search fields, the icons that I'd lost appeared again.
