When I open multiple tabs, Firefox always crashes. I tried everything, updating Firefox and Windows, updating my plugins, testing for the crash in safe mode. Still nothing works

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • Open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

Please post your results below.

Are there any error messages when the issue occurs?

Thanks for your help. It was an extension that caused that problem. I removed it and no crash has happened so far. And there is a crash report box pops up after Firefox crashes/closes but it doesn't help

the only solution i found for preventing the constant crashing was by uninstalling firefox24 and going back to an earlier version. i only have 4 extensions which are adblock plus -adblock pop up-norton toolbar-norton vul.protection

@ nn_77

Can you please release the name of the extension that was causing the issue?

This would be helpful for users who read this question to look for an answer to their problem.

Thank you.

i had no add on issue. after deleting adblock i still had the problem. my only solution was to install an earlier version. i tried ver.24 at least 4 times, having no sucess. i still only use your browser, as it's, in my opinion the best one out there. i'm sure the next version will correct the problem. if you google firefox24, you'll see mant users having problems. thank you for your response.

EVERYONE
Please start your own thread if you have a crash.

  1. Use this special link if it is only after multiple tabs are opened. (Look at the related questions some may well have solutions that work for you)
    • otherwise use this quick and direct link
  2. Please try to post from Firefox (Obviously that may not be possible if it crashes on startup)
  3. Follow the prompts to provide troubleshooting information whilst you post your question.
  4. Include a couple of Crash IDs
You will need to navigate toabout:crashes and look for ID s begim=nningwith bp-
see Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly)
  5. Try Firefox in Firefox's safemode
  6. If you have already posted in this thread, or have crashes after a opening multiple tabs you may wish to post back to confirm you have started a thread so others may see your progress.

ANYONE WITH NORTON SOFTWARE

Someone has already mentioned Norton in this thread. Please note there is a known issue with some Norton software sometimes implicated in Firefox 24 crashes. Norton themselves are asking for more information.
