I read from many creditable sources that Firefox 13 or so will have its own built in speed dial much like Chrome or Opera so here are some questions and suggestions I have. 1 Will the built in speed dial for Firefox have the option to select how many columns/rows (AKA windows) and groups I want. 2 It should at least allow someone to have 14 windows and up to 10 groups. 3 Also will there be an option to import my Speed Dial extension by Josep del Rio settings since this is a very popular/common extension.

You can still use Speed Dial.

Currently I believe it is only on the desktop version but a similar feature is planned for the mobile version of Firefox.

The built in version is basic and does not have the features of extensions such as speed dial.

It will display 9 sites and customization is limited. It will by default show sites that you use the most. It allows you to pin sites to it so that they do not get replaced and delete sites that you do not want displayed. You can not import from Speed Dial.

OK thanks but will I have a choice can I use my Speed Dial extension instead if I want to because I like all of the customization that comes with it also will Firefox Mobil have this feature to?

Good to know thanks for the help.

As the author, I would like to confirm that Speed Dial will keep working on Firefox 13 and forward; also, it already works on Firefox Mobile.

Thanks that's good to know one more question is there anyway to import my settings from my Desktop Speed Dial to my Mobil one if not are there any plans to add this feature down the road?

more options

After exporting the configuration from the PC, you need to put it in a file named "settings.speeddial" at the root of your user folder in your Android phone.

Go to the Speed Dial settings, and you should see a section named "Import/Export Settings", with an "Import" and "Export" button; if you hit import and the file doesn't exist, it will let you know the location where it should be placed.

I know a file picker would have been so much easier, but unfortunately Firefox Mobile doesn't have one at the moment; I may implement one myself should there be enough users that want it.

OK it says /data/data/org.mozilla.firefox/files/mozilla/settings.speeddail but I cant open that folder I'm using Dual File Manger XT to look at my folder/files and also the name of the file that I'm trying export/import called CurrentSettings.speeddial I also tried to look at the SD card and there is the Android folder>data>org.mozilla.firefox>files>download>updates>0 so what I'm I supposed to? Please help.

more options

You can just rename CurrentSettings.speeddial to settings.speeddial.

Isn't there a Android folder>data>org.mozilla.firefox>files>mozilla subfolder? If there is, try copying the settings.speeddial file there.

more options

And how would I get into the subfoler anyway? Because all I see is Android folder>data>org.mozilla.firefox>files>download>updates>0 .

I just found out that the Android filepicker should be working; if you contact me by email, I can send you a link to a dev build so you can try it out.

But this app is from a third party site correct well in that case I don't want to void my warranty/insurance on my phone I mean I trust you but you know I dont want to lose my insurance. Not unless this is actually a extension for FF Mobil right?

more options

I meant a dev build of my extension :) I would point you to a .XPI file, which is the format for Firefox extensions. AFAIK, it will not void any warranty. The linked file will be hosted in the official Speed Dial website, as you'll be able to tell by the domain.

So how do I get in my FF Mobil I sent the weblink to my phone and opened it with my FF and I get nothing what I'm I doing wrong here.

Send me an email and I'll reply with the link you need to use.
