Install/Recover afer new windows install
I have my HDD partitioned in C for Windows and D for data
My Thunderbird files are all in D:\Email\User 1, D:\Email\User 2 and D:\Email\User 3
Each user has at least 3 different emails configured.
I have installed a new windows version and am having a hard time to have my emails back
For my whole life I would just install Thunderbird and during initial setup use the folders in D partition, and that was it, all email accounts, config, folders, passwords, whatever would be there
Now I just can not do it because some genius removed this easy way. Probably the same genius that removed the profile manager.
Any ideas?
Thank you

You do not need a new profile, if I understand you correctly. You already have profiles on D: all you need to do is establish a connection. The 'create profile' button in profile manager offers the opportunity to name the profile and then use the 'browse' button to locate and activate it. I regularly have advised persons with profiles on drive D and it works very well.

For what it's worth, the profile manager is still alive and well. Since Thunderbird identifies profiles by the profile.ini file at c:\users\<yourID>\appdata\roaming\thunderbird, one possibility would be to directly edit that file, but that's dicey. Using the profile manager, which you seem familiar with, should make the task easier.
Hi David,
Tks for replying
Yes, PM is alive and well but was removed from the initial screen until you create a second profile, which is quite strange (to be polite) I have to use thunderbird -P to access it.
As for your solution to my problem, I do not see it working, I am using the profile manager to create a new profile and the problem is after it is created
Tks again

Hello David,
You were right all along, it works like a charm.
I had done this procedure before many times, but this time it was not working and I came here for help.
I do not know if they made this change or I forgot to do it right.
Thing is, it was not working because I was simply choosing the folder when I should open it and then proceed.
Thank you and happy 2023!
Thank you for your kind words. They put a smile on my face to start 2023. And a happy 2023 to you.
Happy to make you happy!
