My son deletes entries in the Firefox History File to hide the fact he has been going to gaming websites rather than concentrating on homework, etc..

He knows he should not be doing this, but as long as he knows he is able to simply remove the selected entries in 'History' he will continue to abuse it. Surely it cannot be beyond the 'Firefox developers' to enable perhaps the 'Firefox Master Password' feature to have the history 'locked down' in such a way that entries are made, but the amendment 'after the fact' are restricted to someone with the 'Master Password'

That wouldn't help. For example it's easy to set up a second profile in witch he has full control.

What you wish for is a way of stopping private from staying private. I hope that will never happened.

It's on Linux, a second profle cannot be set-up with system admin authorisation. I agree on Windoze, it would possibly be a different matter.

This is a request for parental control over a minor, and is only sought because left to his own devices he will abuse the situation

hi i agree, that this would be an option that for privacy reasons is probably never implemented by mozilla (though it might be sensible in your case it might also be misused in other scenarios). you'd probably have to look for a tool that is monitoring the traffic on a system level instead...
