Printing Error: A few characters + MANY blank pages
Windows 7 Professional Thunderbird: 24.3.0
Every time I print from Thunderbird only a few characters print out, then MANY blank pages. Print preview appears fine on screen. Printing to PDF Creator from Thunderbird IS FINE. Printing is PERFECT from all other applications.
Reset 'print_printer' to default in Config Editor. -> no joy
Many Thanks!

historically that type of thing occurs when the printer language on the printer and the language of the application do not match. but I would have thought the reset would have worked.
When you select print, check to make sure the name in the dialog is the right printer. ( it might be an old one.)
Hi Matt ~ Thank you for your prompt reply!!!
As I was writing a response to say: no, no, I can print from all other applications just fine, thanks. It occurred that I might as well replace the printer driver before sending it (hello!) - we never out grow our need for the basics, even in this day and age.
Voilá! Works great! ~~ Many Thanks! Jacob
Hi Matt ~
Replacing the printer driver (HP Laserjet 4 Plus) DOES correct the problem when printing email messages with Thunderbird 31.1.0. However, the next time I print a message - in a separate session - sometimes days apart, the problem reoccurs and I need to replace the driver - again.
As originally stated, all files related to other applications print just fine, without replacing the printer driver.
Any idea why the reoccurring, discordant relationship between Thunderbird and the printer driver???
Many Thanks, Jacob
Weird, but lets see.
Open the config editor and delete the entry for printer.print
I do not hold high hopes. but it might work. Let me know.
Hi Matt ~
Thank you for your reply!
There is no "printer.print" entry in config editor. -- There is: "print_printer". Is this what you mean? Are you suggesting I delete the entire line or only the values for that entry?
I do see two lists of printer configurations for the two devices I use (PDF Creator and HP_LaserJet_4_Plus).
seriously you can delete anything with printer in it's name. The whole key. IT is like clearing information out of Windows registry, but in this case Thunderbird registry. Next time you print most will be recreated. What is not recreated is not needed.
