Alas... there is not. De-activating Adblock should be enough... and even scrutinizing all the blocked elements and manipulating the behavior of the extension in the details does not help.

We can close this discussion as unsolved, but not by picking an arbitrary posting and declare it the ultimate solution.

So the problem is that pages render as plain text, instead of loading stylesheets? If that's true, then I'm expierencing the same problem, and whats funny is that it doesn't occur on safe link sites(https). Did this start when you updated your Firefox browser?

The phenomenon showed during my first session in a 9.x (I think it was 9.0.1) version of Firefox and since persists. As in the beginning I did not see much of a "pattern", and not all pages were affected and never twice the same, I ignored it.

But now, that I am paying more attention, still no "pattern". Arbitrary pages are affected (or not) suddenly, either on first access or when returning to them, be it by hitting the back-button, be it because I post a form once again after having altered some values. It happens or it does not.

As regards your precise question, what I see is still rendered HTML, but in a way that reminds me of Netscape 2.x or Mosaic... Sometimes only part of the style-sheet is honored but I can not say if it is the external or some locally defined attributes which get "priority". Also, as this happened in my default-profile with "https everywhere" active, HTTPS does obviously not help.

A description which in my opinion comes closest to my experience is: Chaos. This word about covers it.

I just found a solution to my problem, and I had to change gfx.downloadable_fonts.sanitize(in about:config) value to false(on default it's set on True), it's meant to be some kind of a safety measure, but I changed it's value to false and all pages started to load properly again.

Felicitations. But I am an unbeliever. Most of the sites that I was visiting, when I had those apparitions, do not work with downloadable fonts.

If there are problems with downloadable fonts then that can be caused by problems with such a font.

Try to set the Boolean pref gfx.downloadable_fonts.sanitize to false on the about:config page to see if that helps.
Be aware that this makes you vulnerable to security issues regarding corrupted downloaded fonts.

Now, further scrutiny of the behavior of the Adblock extension did confirm me once again. I created an explicit exception-rule which exempts all external CSS-style-sheets from being handled by Adblock, irrespective of the other filters (erroneously) making reference to such an included style-sheet.

On a page which renders free of CSS in Firefox, the rule appears to have been applied all the same, the style-sheet is not filtered out, but at the same time Firefox cannot access the path to the CSS-file, when I try this in an additional tab.

You can explain to me, why I am wrong or just once confirm, that Firefox will not load the style sheet on this one occasion. I can wait until the behavior is reproduced on another page, if you want or re-post the screen shots from the same page, when there is nothing wrong and all renders well.

• using a link from an email if so are you able to provide a partial copy of an email {body text only, no identifying info or headers} and say which link you clicked on (there have been other threads on the subject, but not sure at the moment I can find the most recent/relevant one)
• otherwise please state exactly how you reply
  • how do you find the post you are replying to (for instance do you use /questions?filter=my-contributions)
  • what is the next step you take when replying what do you click on or do next ?

Merely replying to a post; even when as in this case you are the Original Poster and Owner of the thread; should not be marking questions as solved. If that is happening we (those of us asking and answering questions) would like to know more. Forum issues are discussed at /forums/contributors with the thread title prefixed "[site issue]" but feel free just to comment in this your own current thread.

Firefox should normally use .css style sheets when loading a web page. There is of course the possibility that your extensions could deliberately or otherwise affect the results. Do you have problems if you use Firefox in [safe mode] with the default theme and with plugins disabled?

If you do have such problems maybe you could post a screenshot of an ordinary site, whilst you are in safe mode with plugins disabled.

Maybe it is better to use the reply option on a post lower down in the threead, such as the last one which you are replying to.

Normally I do not know what those asking questions see, but I did ask a question myself recently (and was chastised for doing so) but i do now have the advantage of being able to see first hand what a poster of questions sees, without resorting to using [ allizom]

From what I can see if you mark the question as solved you do get options to change it. Presumably you may mark it as unsolved by using the undo option. (Presumably that is separate from making a post or reply). I will try with the question I asked, I should be able to change it to unsolved. (current status is solved screenshot attached)

You could always try the CSS reloader, for a while it helped in my case, but as I explained it earlier my browser blocked certain site style sheets. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/css-reloader/?src=search

But I do not want to give my blessings to ... faulty... software. And this does not look like a solution.
