Not Showing Tab Close Buttons When Many Tabs Open
This setting does not work if many tabs are open: browser.tabs.closeButtons
Setting explained here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.tabs.closeButtons
Problem is explained in this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/844549?e=es&as=aaq
This is WRONG. If my setting is 'show close buttons on all tabs', then firefox SHOULD show close buttons on all tabs. No matter how many tabs I have open.
I now have only 6 tabs open, with plenty of room for a close button on each tab. But no close button is displayed.
What's the point of this setting if it does not do what it's supposed to do?
Is there a way to show the close button on ALL tabs, even if many are open?
Thanks

Hi,
You can also try to lower the value of browser.tabs.tabClipWidth.
Are you aware that you can close a Tab by middle-click on it?
Note also the tabs are designed so that the close button remains in the same place. If you click to close a tab the next close button aligns, so it is quicker clicking away in one place than it is moving the mousepointer, when you need to close adjacent tabs.
Uh, John - don't the tabs remain fixed until the cursor is moved a bit? Or maybe that is just a feature of the tabstrip on Windows? IIRC, that came about in Firefox 10 or 11.
Usually (if you haven't changed prefs) the tabs will only snap in position (i.e fill the tab bar) if you move the mouse pointer off the tab bar.
I am thinking of the fact that IIRC there was a change so that the tab width does not immediately change and so the close button lines up. I think that still applies to Windows and Ubuntu.
Probably bug 465086 - When closing a tab, other tabs should not resize until cursor leaves toolbar region
There is also keyboard shortcut to jump to some of the tabs but I am not sure when that works keyboard shortcuts - Perform common Firefox tasks quickly_windows-tabs
