Make sure Firefox isn't clearing anything on exit

  • The image "new fx menu" does not exist. -> Options - > Privacy -> Firefox will (Remember history)

I found that after Firefox v29, a LOT of my settings and add-ons were changed / reset.

Yes, but that is another story than seeing my settings be removed while using it between version updates.

Well, that may well be the problem: History.

My definition (and probably the one of the vast majority of users) of "history" is the information that is automatically accumulated while browsing, not the information I was forced to put in to limit my interaction with some sites.

Maybe an "Exceptions" check box should be provided in the setting popup identifiying what need/not need to be deleted at the closing.

I may have over look something while reading the online info.

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data. This data is stored in the permissions.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.

Thanks, you are confirming what I seem to read in the help. I am starting to wonder if I will be able to setup Firefox to clean anything but my passwords and what I consider my security settings (blocking exceptions).

You can go into the options and select to save / not save on a web site basis. Also, you could write a DOS batch file. The batch starts Firefox. When FF closes, the batch deletes what you want.

I know I can do a lot of stuff via the system but that pushes me 30 years back. The GUI should offer more options, but this is just my point of view.
