When reading a very large web document, it will suddenly turn black when scrolling down.

If the page style is set to 'basic style', it shows this problem. If the page style is set to 'no style', the problem does not show.

See attachments for above on test page - http://www.ralst.com/FriendMyFriend.HTM

Tried with multiple themes, with no difference.

That is likely a problem with the background image that stop being displayed (repeated) after about 32000px and you get the background color instead.
If the default background color is dark (black) instead of the default white then you get this issue.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors

This is a bug on Windows.

  • Bug 671302 - cairo-gdi: large background-images and gradients don't work beyond ~ 32735px

Hello,

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps:

  • Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  • Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Cache and history cleared - no difference.

can you reproduce this in a new profile?

more options

New profile does NOT replicate the problem. Is there a way to find out what is causing it in my default profile?

more options

Im not sure if the cache etc has been erased, the best thing is to transfer some content from your old profile to the new one.
