Sorry for the inconvenience. If you search for Hacking Team you will learn about a disclosure of previously unknown exploits for Flash. Adobe has admitted the problem and promised updates for later this week:
https://helpx.adobe.com/security/products/flash-player/apsa15-04.html
Meanwhile, Mozilla has soft-blocked the latest version of the Shockwave Flash plugin. Therefore, you need to activate it on sites you trust to use it instead of being able to set Firefox to let all sites use Flash automatically.
If you are not accustomed to using the "Ask to Activate" feature for a plugin, here's what to expect:
When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
If you see a good reason to use Flash, and the site looks trustworthy, you can go ahead and click the Lego-like icon in the address bar to allow Flash. You can choose to allow it for now or permanently.
But some pages might be using Flash only for tracking or playing a video ad. If you don't see an immediate need for Flash, feel free to ignore the notification, it will just sit there in case you want it later.
Hmm, also, the forum software detected your Firefox as version 28. Is that correct?
Version 28 is not secure; Mozilla discloses security flaws after each new release. Is something holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 39? Please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds.
Perhaps this article from the time Firefox 29 was released is relevant: How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox.
If Help > About Firefox shows Firefox 39.0, you may need to clear the preference that is misreporting your version number. See: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.
Okay, I'm reading your post a little more closely, and I'm not sure why the Shockwave Flash plugin isn't appearing on your Add-ons page.
I don't think I've learned anything new about Firefox not detecting the Flash plugin since that old thread.
Have you tried reinstalling Flash in case the registry entry is missing? Or shutting down and restarting Windows?

I am running Adobe 18.0.0.203 which is the latest update but when I go to check whether my plug ins are up to date it says to update my Adobe. Makes no sense to me as to why it is telling me it is out of date when I have the newest installed.

all solution i knew , i've tried it restart, delete , reinstall, try other flash version , almost everything i could think of.
maybe one solution i haven't done , reset FF to default state or uninstall FF .... but i rather not , too much hassle to reconfigure FF
Hi new_aged2perfection, it's probably bad wording due to the unusual situation. There is no update to a non-vulnerable version. Please see the earlier post https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1072054#answer-753371

Thank you
I am also experiencing this problem, but just as a point of clarity, am I correct in understanding that Adobe knows about the exploits and will be releasing a safe update soon? Thanks!
Be aware that Java (not JavaScript!) is affected as well.
