export bookmarks to ie
I'm trying to export my bookmarks to ie9. Everytime I import the html. file I exported into ie9 I get an unsuccessful message. I'm trying to export from Firefox in safe mode. Could that be the problem?

Is there something wrong that you need Firefox in safe mode?
Open the HTML using a text viewer. Do NOT use a word type program. Look at the information. Does it look okay? Look thru the whole file.
When I click on the HTM file it opens right up in a browser and lists the bookmarks hyperlinked with descriptions. It looks correct.
I'm opening Firefox in safe mode because it crashed and won't open in normal mode anymore. I've tried to restore the defaults and that failed. I've deleted the .exe file and uninstalled and reinstalled and that's failed. I'm trying to save my Bookmarks so that I can totally purge the computer of any Mozilla files and try to reinstall then (hopefully I don't have to go into the register as well).
I don't know what else to try other than to create a new profile - I read somewhere that might be the answer - but I can't confidently figure out how to do that.
When I go to IE and try to import from a browser that radio button is grayed out for some reason. So I exported the file into html and hence the post above.

I'm not sure what the implications of your reply are. Perhaps you could elaborate. The programs that your identifying have been on this computer, as far as I can tell, for as long as I've had it.
The reports showed me what was causing the issue. I then searched the web for information. One source said to run the SFC program to repair any contaminated files. Another said to update the graphics files.
You can try to disable OMTC by setting this pref to false.
- on the about:config page: layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = false
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
- Places Maintenance: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
cor-el - the layer.offmain...... preference was already set to false.
I've run the system scanner tool and it found and corrected some items. I've confirmed that the graphics driver on the computer is up to date. Still unable to open Firefox outside of safe-mode
Did you try to disable hardware acceleration?
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
- default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder in profile folder)
- default toolbar layout is used
- JavaScript JIT compilers are disabled
- hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
- plugins are not affected
- preferences are not affected
