I had to do a fix and when I did I lost all my saved passwords. Is there a way to restore Firefox to before I did a repair?
Ask.com got installed on my browser, I followed directions to get rid of it but in doing so lost all of my saved passwords. Is there any way to get these back?
Chosen solution
As posted above, to recover passwords rom an other profile or the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop you need to restore the signons.sqlite and key3.db files.

Do you recall what you did? if you remove an extension through the Add-ons page or use Firefox's Reset feature, normally your passwords are preserved. Not sure what else would have been recommended.
Hi jscher2000, thank you for your reply. What I did was, hmm, well I can't really think right now. It is due to a condition I have that effects short term memory but let me just say that it involved saving a file to desktop of my firefox stuff. I did find the solution and was able to restore all of my passwords by copying and pasting to the new firefox file two things that were saved in the old file. Gosh I hope this is making sense.
For anyone else who happens to do this like I did, i did print up the solution. Ok, here goes. It is called Recovering important data from an old profile. I found it in Firefox help. To get back your passwords you need to open the new profile, then open the old saved profile and copy from the old file and paste to the new profile these two files, they are called (key3.db) and (signons.sqlite). So, if anyone has this problem, you or someone else can tell them to do this and they will have resolved the issue of losing all their saved passwords like I did. Problem Solved
Thank you so much, maridane
