How to write a username when loggin in while firefox is forcing another username?
I try to write my username and firefox offers another username (different caps) and wont allow me to write the username I want. Everytime firefox adds the username on its list.

This might be the saved passwords feature. To clear the obsolete ones, try this dialog:
orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Security > "Saved Passwords" button
Alternately, these could be autocomplete suggestions. Is there a drop-down below the box as you start to type? In that case, press the down arrow on the keyboard to the ones you want to remove and press Delete. (If the suggestion isn't deleted, try Shift+Delete.)
Possibly useful articles:
- Control whether Firefox automatically fills in forms
- Password manager - Remember, delete, change and import saved passwords in Firefox
Does that fix it?
Its a saved password feature and by deleting the password I can write another one, but surely it shouldnt work like that. A saved password should only be offered but not forced on the user. What if there are two usernames using the same computer.
Thx for the reply.
Hmmm, I thought the point of saved passwords was to fill them automatically. Generally speaking, each separate Windows user should have a separate Firefox settings folder, because they are stored in your individual c:\Users folders. I haven't actually tested how it works.
Automatic filling is no problem. Problem was that I couldnt change the username after it had been automatically filled.
Did that misspelled name show up in a drop list when you started typing in the input form?
Yeah it did.
Then you can remove it if it happens again.
Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop down list:
- Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
- Highlight an entry in the drop down list
- Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.
