Hi Anan, I notice the address in the address bar of your screenshot is a Yahoo page. I'm not sure how you ended up there. Were you searching on Yahoo, or clicking a link to Yahoo, or is your YouTube request getting hijacked over to Yahoo somehow?

Possible culprits include a bad add-on or malware, so depending on what is happening, you might have a little cleanup to do.

I just played around with searching a bit more. When I entered youtube.com and then searched within Youtube for Baba Is You, I got a traditional Google results page, and when I clicked on one of the videos I got a normal Youtube page. When I repeated my earlier search for Youtube Baba in one step, it took me to a Yahoo search page and then to the strange thing in the picture. I'm mystified!

My Webroot SecureAnywhere seems comfortable with my software environment but I'm eager to learn. Do you have some more specific suggestion?

Perhaps your address bar search is hijacked. Could you start by checking that your address bar searches go to your preferred search site. This article has the steps for updating your Default Search Engine:

Anything unusual there?

One possible culprit for modifying or overriding your default search engine, or completely hijacking requests, would be an extension. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

• Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
• "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
• type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything here that mentions search or otherwise looks suspicious or unfamiliar? Or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or if it's obviously unwanted, remove).

Any improvement?

Search engine was set to Google and all other options were unchecked, then I rebooted Firefox. It continued to default to Yahoo until I also wiped the history. That seems to have solved the problem for now. No problem with the extensions that I can see.
