How do I make new folders and have them automatically alphabetized?

more options

If I right click on InBox to make a "new folder", it makes the new folder down below the necessary folders but it no longer automatically alphabetizes them for me.

If I make a new folder and call it "Tom" in falls just below the Junk (I think) and not placing it all down the list below the "Terry" folder like it used to do.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Chosen solution

- I finally made it back to this person's location. They are across town. Tried several things and nothing worked. until....

I uninstalled the Lightning 4.0.7.1 (integrated calendar) and instantly the folders began working as default. I didn't want to reinstall as I was afraid it would act up again.

This person with the issue has an estimated 200 folders (total) for 7 Pop3 accounts. Probably 25 or these are parent folders with the others being subfolders.

Thanks for all the help and input. I hope this fixes someone else's issue.

Thank you kindly for the input and suggestion. I was hoping to make Thunderbird work like it used to work. What I have been used to is; when I create a folder, it would alphabetize under the corresponding account, automatically. It just stopped doing this :/

I am thinking about backing up the data (MozBackup), uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird if anyone has thoughts on this idea.

This is a Pop account.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:

Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

Thank you for the input. This one thing I though about after the last suggestion. I looked and there are no add-ons installed. I will give it a try anyway to see the results.

Are there any sort routines or settings built in to Thunder Bird? I cannot find any.

Thoughts: - I was thinking about coping the profile folder contents out to a flash drive and doing a clean install, then restore, but I don't want to 'restore' a broken setting some place.

- I was also thinking of doing a clean install after a Mozbackup but fear the same.

That would be a waste of time as it won't change anything.
