Some of my contacts in Yahoo mail are gone. Yahoo says it is the browser's fault and wants to charge me to fix this issue. I need to restore the lost contacts.

Firefox is only a web browser. It can't do anything unless its told to.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

  • Clear the Cache and
  • Remove Cookies Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.

  • Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
  • Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar

Select Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Thank you for your reply, FredMcD. I did everything you suggested but my contacts are still missing. Anything else you can suggest to get them back to the original list? Thank you!

I, my self, use the Windows Live Mail program, formally Outlook Express. See if either of these programs is on your computer. If not,

Download Windows Live Mail 2011 from Official Microsoft Download Center

Once that program is running, it should sync to your e-mail account, including your address book.

Thanks, but that didn't work, either. The only contacts that will export are the ones that are in Yahoo now - not the ones that were lost. I guess I will just have to enter all the contacts manually again in my address book. I think I might start over and get a gmail account now and leave ATT and Yahoo behind. Thank you for your time!!!

I am sorry for that. If you keep the Windows Live Mail on your system, the data will be stored on your computer as well as your provider. But make sure nothing is removed during sync.

BTW, Windows Live Mail can also export you contact list.
