The Usage app on Firefox OS lets you keep track of mobile data you're using every month.
Important: The usage application can not be used as a substitute to your carrier's own tracking system. Mozilla is not liable for any extra charges in any way. To learn more, read Mozilla's Privacy Policy and Legal notices.
Note: A SIM card must be inserted into the phone in order for the application to work.
- To open the Usage app, tap the icon.
- The amount of data used appears.
- To change or reset the usage controls, tap the icon in the upper right to bring up the usage settings:
- Tap the Reset button to clear the data and begin tracking your usage.
Tip: To view Data usage from any screen, swipe down to check the MB used meter in the Notification tray. If you have the Alert button enabled, the meter will turn red as you reach the data limit in the setting.
View your current usage
- Tap to open the Usage app.
- If you are opening the Usage app for the first time, it will prompt you to set your preferences. Otherwise, you'll see a graph of your current mobile data and Wi-Fi usage.
Receive usage alerts
Set a usage limit and receive alerts if you reach it.
- Tap to open the Usage app.
- Tap the settings gear on the upper right corner of the screen.
- To receive alerts, tap the switch next to Data use alert to turn it on: .
- Tap the menu for When use is above and enter your limit.
- Tap to save your changes.
Clear your usage report
Clear your usage report when you want to start over with a new billing cycle:
- Tap to open the Usage app.
- Tap the settings gear on the upper right corner of the screen.
- Tap the button.
- To clear your usage automatically, scroll down to the Phone and Internet data report section and choose how often you want to clear your usage (monthly or weekly).
- On the Starting on menu, select a recurring day that you'd like to clear your data.
- Tap to save your changes.
