You can easily customize the keyboard layout for your language and change the sound, vibration, auto correction and word suggestion settings. We'll show where these options are, along with some great tips that will make typing on your device easy.
Low memory devices: These features do not apply to devices with version 1.3T.
Open the Keyboard settings
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down to the Personalization section and select Keyboard.
- On the Keyboard settings screen you can turn on the sound, vibration, auto correction and word suggestion options. You can also select the keyboard layout that you want.
Keyboard tips
- To enable all capitals on the keyboard, double-tap the shift key. It will turn blue.
- Tap and hold a key for alternate or accented characters.
- If you have Word suggestion turned on, you can type faster by selecting a suggested word from the tray above the keyboard.
- If you have Auto correction turned on, misspelled words will be automatically changed to the highlighted suggestion after you hit the space bar to move on to the next word. To undo an auto correction, just tap backspace.Note: This feature is available in Firefox OS version 1.1 and higher. Not sure what version of Firefox OS you have? Here's how to find out.

Want to add keyboards for other languages or change your sound or auto correct options? This is the place to do it.
Add more languages
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Keyboards in the Personalization section.
- Tap Selected keyboards.
- Scroll down and tap
- Put a check mark next to each language you want.
- Tap the arrow on the top left to save your changes.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Keyboards in the Personalization section.
- Tap Select keyboards.
- Put a check mark next to each language you want to add.
- Tap the arrow on the top left to return to the previous screen. Your changes will be saved automatically.
Emoji keyboards: Free, emoji keyboards are also available through the Firefox Marketplace. Note: For help with a specific third-party app, please contact the app developer directly.
Turn on sound, vibration, auto correction and word suggestions
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Keyboards in the Personalization section.
- Tap Built-in Keyboard.
- Put a checkmark next to your desired settings.
- Tap the blue arrow on the top left of the screen when you're finished.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Keyboards.
- Tap Built-in Keyboard.
- Put a checkmark next to your desired settings to activate them: Vibration, Click sound, Auto correction, or Word suggestion.
- Tap the arrow on the top left to return to the previous screen. Your changes will be saved automatically.
