Many mobile applications, like maps or weather apps, use location services to display relevant content. The Mozilla community is developing an open alternative to commercial location services called Mozilla Location Service.
Mozilla Location Service uses nearby Wi-Fi points, GPS and cell towers to determine where the device is. You can help improve the Mozilla Location Service by turning on Location Services in the Firefox for Android Settings:
- Tap the menu icon (either at the bottom right on some devices or in the upper right of the browser)
and then tap (you may need to tap first)
.
- Within the Settings screen tap .
- Scroll down the page to Mozilla Location Service.
- Tap the check box to enable Mozilla Location Service.
