Are you using Tweetdeck on the web (https://web.tweetdeck.com/)?
What kind of links are you referring to? If I click a link in a tweet to a picture, it appears in an overlay; if I click a link to an external website, it opens in a new window or new tab depending on how I have the preference set under
orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Tabs
I just realized I have 14.0 beta 12, but I'll update and see whether anything changes.
14.0.1 (release version) seems the same.

no, I am not using the web , I am using the tweetdeck app , I mean whatever any link , like picture link , twitpic link , external website link , my problem is not decide to open in new window or new tab , whenever I open any links , the window just overlay my tweetdeck , I think its the overlay problem , and now I install back to Firefox 13.0.1 , and it is totally fine.
by the way ,thank you so much for the help , i think after upgrade to 14.0.1 version l it change the window overlay setting whenever I open a link in other application.
Just to compare, here is what I get in Firefox 14.0.1.
(1) Click pic.twitter.com link, displays in a Lightbox-style overlay inside the app.
(2) Click an external link (e.g., shortened URL), displays in a Firefox window outside the app. The Firefox window comes to the front.
Is the difference that Tweetdeck used to stay in front, and now Firefox moves in front of Tweetdeck?
yesssssss , EXACTLY !!!! before the update ,whenever I open an external link, Tweetdeck used to stay in front, and now Firefox moves in front of Tweetdeck<<<< EXACTLY !!!
no one can help to solve this problem ????
Hi dearestalice, have you installed Firefox 15 yet? I wonder whether it might have changed this behavior.
Firefox 15 ?? i thought its only Firefox 14 now ??
Firefox 15 became available last Tuesday before the holiday, but automatic update notifications are not sent to everyone all at once, so you might not yet have gotten the word. Please let us know whether it makes any difference.
just install Firefox 15 , its still the same , Firefox overlay every time I open an external link , Tweetdeck used to stay in front , I think Firefox change the sitting since Firefox 14
I've seen some confusing behavior opening new windows. Sometimes the new Firefox window I expect to stay in front will move behind the window from which it was launched; in other words, the opposite of your problem. I can't figure out any pattern yet. ??
huh ??? so that means ??
It means I have noticed some changes, too, but I also do not know what's going on. Sorry I don't have an answer.
its fine , you help a lot already , maybe one day we can figure it out we will know , thanks a lot !!!
Hi mffaswan, if you are opening links from Tweetdeck in Firefox, have you noticed the change described by the original poster that the Firefox window used to open behind Tweetdeck and now it opens in front of Tweetdeck?
But when I open links from tweetdeck in Internet Explorer , IE window still open behind tweetdeck just like Firefox 13.0 , and after Firefox change to 14.0 , it opens in front of tweetdeck now. you need to try open few links to test it. usually you open the first link , window will def. pop up , but after you open few more links , they just open those links behind tweetdeck .
@jscher2000 Tweetdeck was opening all links by Microsoft Word! the link i posted before shows how to correct the problem, I followed the solution, and now it's workin fine ;)
