It is proposed that setting the about:config parameter pdfjs.defaultZoomValue to page-width will make that the default setting. This does not work on my installation - Ubuntu 20.04, 77.0.1 (64-bit). What is the correct setting please?

Is this about the page zoom of the PDF file or about the Firefox window with the PDF file (i.e. is Firefox switching to maximized or full screen mode) ?

The pref you mention is about the zoom setting via the toolbar at the top of the PDF Viewer.

Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution to see if that makes a difference.

Thank you for the two replies. Unfortunately, neither seems to address the question so far as I can tell, which is to have the default pdf image presented at page-width rather than whole page. There claimed elsewhere that there is a setting. It doesn't work. I think I will have to raise it as a bug.

Sorry, typo. It is claimed elsewhere ..
