Confused About Bookmarking.
I am very confused about Bookmarking since XMarks closed and I would appreciate help and patience with this. All my XMarks bookmarks, and Firefox bookmarks created since the closure of XMarks, are in the sidebar which is great. I haven't lost anything. The XMarks icon on the toolbar has a yellow exclamation mark telling me that I have bookmarks that need to be synced. I thought that new bookmarks were now being created in Firefox as XMarks is no more. They look and feel as if they are still being created in XMarks but, thankfully, they are all in the sidebar, along with new folders. Is it possible that new bookmarks and folders are still being created in XMarks? If so, How do I change over to Firefox bookmarking? How do I sync bookmarks in Firefox? Also, new bookmarks are being created in Other Folders in the drop down bookmarks menu. Is this normal? As I have a large amount of bookmarks I am terrified of doing anything that would cause me to lose any. I have explained things as best as I can and I ask for your help and patience in getting things sorted as I am still very much a novice in these matters. Thank you.

All Xmarks was a Sync service for bookmarks. It held a copy of your bookmarks.
Create a online email account like yahoo or outlook and email the bookmarks to your self. Been doing that since 1995.
Save to other partions, or hard drives.
Backup like should always have been doing :

Why things still have Xmarks stuff is you still have Xmarks installed as an Extension. Please disable it as it is now a security risk.
Never used Xmarks and it is not something going to discuss when you can Google it. If Xmarks just backed up to itself or synced to other devices I would not know.
Firefox Sync https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/features/sync/ is for syncing between devices (plural) such as a phone or laptop/pad or another desktop. It is not a backup service.
There are other Sync services, as to what the provide and the security/privacy you will have to judge for yourself as well as determine what kind of syncing they do.

Thank you. I would also like to hear the views of someone who used and understood the workings of XMarks, and how they managed following the demise of that service.
There is only a limited amount of Volunteers that come and go. Not seen anyone mention using such in reply's to others. There is no general public comments. You back them up you have them all the time.
