Please how do I set my search engine to Google and keep it that way. It keeps reverting to Amazon
My search engine keeps reverting to Amazon. I have to change it back to Google each time I log on to my computer. I deleted all the other search engines, including Amazon. However, while the other search engines stay deleted, Amazon keeps getting back on the list. I also applied an application posted here that was supposed to lock the changes to the search engine, but this did not work. Is this possibly something I should contact Amazon about? Bonnie

ASC can cause this issue, so check its settings and see if it still happens with those protecting features disabled.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

I think this comes from recent freeware software installs in your computer. Actually these PUP (potentially unwanted programs) comes as bundled from software programs that you install without choosing "Custom Installation" from the time of installation. These programs then hijack mostly the search engine of browser and normally don't go out. For removal you need some specific programs like : MalwareBytes Hitman Removal Tool Adwcleaner
Do a full scan of your system and delete any suspicious file/program that you found. Also check about the Hijacker in System control panel and do a complete uninstall from there also. Also Look into Browser's extension (menu->addons->extension->) or simply type addons.mozilla.org and hit enter, and remove from there also.
You can also remove recent software install and re-install them with custom installation option.
There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:
I have advanced system care with surfing protection on and I have adaware cleaner, both already installed. My computer was recently redone, a month ago, new hard drive and all the software reinstalled
I still have the problm
