Unresponsive script error when clicking on slideshow image link

All of a sudden Flash slideshows I have installed are getting an "unresponsive script" error when you click on any of the hyperlinked slideshow images. After clicking on the image, it takes a long time for the page to change, then the "unresponsive script" warning window pops up identifying this page as the culprit with a :16 at the end.

Example: http://accessretirement.com/new

The slideshow itself works fine, it is the hyperlink that is a problem. I didn't change the script. This happens in Safe Mode as well. Also happens on Windows laptop. Does not happen in Safari. Clients are screaming, have tried asking this question before but didn't get an answer. Appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks a lot for trying, but it didn't work. I finally just replaced it with an HTML5 slideshow.

I am not a Flash developer either. It is AS3, I know that. I can send you the source code if you can tell me where to send it.

Please can someone address this? I have many very unhappy clients who are not selling product. This is a Firefox browser issue that should be resolved by Mozilla.

My workaround was to overlay the flash layer with a transparent gif and make the gif clickable. That works perfectly.

That's great if you have a one-image slideshow...

I don't know whether any Flash developers volunteer here. In the meantime, you may want to follow up with the following:

  • Flabell, if preview.swf is from this vendor, to see whether any SWF updates or new best practices are available: http://www.flabell.com/

It is not a Flash error, it is a browser error. Flabell says it is a Firefox issue. This does not happen with any other browser and it only started happening after the last update.

Now clicking on the image link is not even changing the page, as it was doing successfully (albeit taking forever) last week. There is just the unresponsive script error. What is going on?

On the Access Retirement page, I still get a 3-second delay (no script error).

Same on Flabell's demo page here: http://www.flabell.com/files/282_1c48916ac4898a9a880a14f9a4be16a7/deploy/index.html

I can get a script error if I open the developer tools and try to profile it. That seems to bog down the page and although I couldn't find any specific feature changes in Bugzilla relating to debugging or profiling plugins, the slowness might be a side effect of something else. Anyway, disabling the debugger and profiler doesn't seem to help with the 3-second delay.

Did you file a bug on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ ?

I sent a message via the Feedback avenue. I am not a developer and don't speak developer-speak. Again: this is happening on Mac and Windows, but only in Firefox.

the problem is the flash player, not firefox. To fix the problem:

1. to go to a website that have a flash video, such as youtube 2. right click on the video then select "global settings", this will open up the flash player setting manager 3. click on the advance tab 4. under "browsing data and settings", click "Delete All".

that is it , u will notice firefox wil run smoothly once again. if after some time firefox slow responding again, just do the same thing to fix it. goodluck!!!
