New event always shows wrong organizer.
TB 45.4.0 When creating a new event in calendar, the event organizer always shows the same incorrect email address. The calendar settings have the correct email but this is ignored. Create a new event and then invite attendees; the event organizer always has the same email address regardless of which calendar i am adding the event to. The incorrect email address that is shown is my gmail account. I recently had my gmail calendar set up in TB but unsubscribed and I am wondering if this has left an incorrect setting somewhere? Otherwise, i can't explain this problem and would appreciate any help. Thanks, Cliff

Create a clean new profile in Thunderbird and import your stuff from the old profile http://brucejohnson.ca/ThunderbirdProfile.html

I just tried completely deleting my gmail account from TB and yet my gmail address still shows as the meeting organizer for all meetings for all calendars!
Check the Outgoing Server (SMTP) in Account Settings. Make sure that the Gmail server is not there. Make sure that the right server is set to default.

Thanks Bruce. I have completely deleted my gmail account from TB including the gmail SMTP server. The email account that should be used is set as my default account and is set as the email in the calendar settings. When i create a new event and select Invite Attendees the meeting organizer is still showing my non-existent gmail account (greyed out). I don't know if it's related but on the New Event page the Notify Attendees box is checked but greyed out so I can't edit it. Thanks for your interest. Cliff
All I can think of at this point is to create a new, clean Thunderbird profile.
Unfortunately, just creating a new profile and copying the old profile files into it usually doesn't fix much.
I have not found any comprehensive step-by-step instructions for how to create a new profile, then copy & import all the various things (messages, address books, filters, calendar data, add-ons), from the old profile.
Since I've had to do this three times already for people (I'm a computer tech), I'm going to make such instructions now. I need them for myself at least. I will publish these instructions on my website. When I do, I will post the link here.

Thanks again Bruce for your efforts. I have decided to completely remove TB and do a clean install. I can resync all my email accounts (they're all IMAP) and calendars (via ownCloud) so I shouldn't lose anything except time! I'll avoid my gmail account however until I'm sure everything is OK. I look forward to seeing your instructions for creating a new profile. Cliff

Thanks Bruce - I tried that and still had the spurious email appearing as the meeting organizer in TB. However, this led me to source of the problem. My calendar syncs with an ownCloud calendar. in ownCloud my calendar has an email address used for password recovery and notifications and it is this email address that thunderbird was picking up (via webDav) and using for the meeting organizer. The email address set in the calendar properties in ownCloud seems to be ignored. So at least I have fixed my problem (by changing the email address in ownCloud) although i suspect there is still a problem in TB in that the calendar email in TB really should override the setting in ownCloud. Thanks again for your help. Cliff
