Is there a quick short cut key stroke to turn ON/Off the Firefox browser screen Dark Theme? If the Windows 10 professional 64 Bit screen settings are set for Dark theme in Hi Contrast settings, for the visually impaired, The Firefox browser displays in bright white screen.

I don't think there is a quick setting.

Three suggestions:

(1) Set Firefox not to use High Contrast when rendering web pages (see: Disable high contrast mode in Firefox) (2) Select the Dark theme from the Themes list (steps below) (3) If Firefox is not taking the hint, set up the theme preference override (steps below)

For #2:

You can change themes on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Themes. On the right side, find Dark and click its Enable button.

For #3:

(A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(B) In the search box, type or paste ui.systemUsesDarkTheme

(C) Firefox should display a bar with some radio buttons to choose a new preference type, followed by a + button. Choose Number and click the + button:

(D) Edit the value to either 0 (Light) or 1 (Dark) and then click the blue check mark button or press Enter/Return to save the change.

You should notice the about:config page adapt to your preference within a moment or two.

Does any of that help with the page(s) giving you problems?
