Thunderbird profile is corrupt, can I install a new version along side the old for now?
I'm using 52.6.0 I have three email accounts set-up, my primary plus a secondary and Gmail. The primary is corrupted, not receiving new messages, old messages are listed with todays date, etc... Repair/Compacting folders did not help, just lost older messages. The secondary and gmail inboxes are working fine however. I've tried to delete the global-messages file and to rebuild with no luck. I'm just wondering if I can install a new version and keep this old version off-line for a while so I can have copies of some of the older messages not on the mail server anymore? I can't seem to install a new version without it referencing my current and corrupted profile?

I think what you want to do is create a new profile with Profile Manager, and add the primary, problem account. If it works properly, add the other accounts, and then transfer the address books and local mail folders. With Profile Manager, you can launch TB in either of the profiles, while you are in the process of building the new one.
Short of that, you could rebuild the folders in the primary account by following these instructions. Essentially, you delete the mbox and msf files and have TB automatically recreate new versions. Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Open Folder to open the profile folder; close TB before making any edits.
Okay, I'll try this evening and see how it turn out. I appreciate the helpful reply and I'll follow up after I have an outcome or another question... Thanks and have a great day!
