Some data has been moved over to Google Cloud Storage.
Please find sample connection from firefox, why its establishing connection to cloudfront.net?
/ # netstat -nptw | grep firefox tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:42040 127.0.0.1:443 ESTABLISHED 33103/firefox tcp 0 0 9.184.184.203:46088 52.222.137.79:443 ESTABLISHED 33103/firefox tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:42052 127.0.0.1:443 ESTABLISHED 33103/firefox tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:45894 127.0.0.1:11443 ESTABLISHED 33103/firefox [ /] # nslookup 52.222.137.79 79.137.222.52.in-addr.arpa name = server-52-222-137-79.ams50.r.cloudfront.net. 12:32 later the connection is closed though

You didn't show any screenshot error or what URL is causing this issue for others reading to know what to look for to replicate the issue.
When Firefox launches it makes several connection to googleusercontent and other sites. Would like to understand what data it is sending to these web sites.
/ # netstat -nputw | grep firefox tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:54338 127.0.0.1:11443 ESTABLISHED 2065885/firefox tcp 0 0 9.3.147.179:58328 34.117.237.239:443 ESTABLISHED 2065885/firefox
[root@vhmccloudvm337 hscpe] # nslookup 34.117.237.239 239.237.117.34.in-addr.arpa name = 239.237.117.34.bc.googleusercontent.com.

Most if not all Browser uses google analytics servers to do their web searches that is something Firefox can't change as Google are the host servers.
The Firefox here is in Kiosk mode where the user can't provide URL. In such case also its connecting to googleusercontent is the concern here.
With moved I mean that previously all data was stored on Amazon (AWS/EC2) servers (mozaws.net) and during the past years some data has been moved to Google Cloud servers, there is also still server space used on Amazon servers. It is much easier to store data that needs to be update regularly on cloud servers and currently some server space is rented from Google (mozgcp.net).

for instance, update configuration data (balrog) is stored on cloud servers.
This forum and likely other Mozilla pages are hosted on Google servers. I'm sure that other browsers behave the same way and also store data on cloud servers.
