Suddenlink clearly offer a bargain basement service. The web page and the process a mail client use are about as similar as a gas and diesel engine. They are both internal combustion engines, but there the similarity basically ends.

i posted what you asked and no it doesn't work in safe mode either and have been using this program for years and years with no problems

Your settings look OK, so the first thing I'd check is if Avast is scanning outgoing mail. Disable that option if it's in place and see if it helps.

my version says 60.9.0...would that make a difference, if i install will it delete my mail or addresses?

Try this:

• Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
• In left pane scroll down and select 'Outgoing server (SMTP)'
• Select/highlight the suddenlink outgoing smtp server name
• Click on 'Edit' button
• Change the Connection Security to SSL/TSL
• Port should auto change to be 465
• authentication method choose 'Normal Password'.
• Click on 'OK'
• Click on 'OK'

Restart Thunderbird.

Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.suddenlink.net for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

the above quote is what i get after doing what you instructed to do, still doesn't work on out going mail
