How to enable Java in Firefox in Ubuntu?
When I search the plugins for “Java”, I see a variety of Java-related plugins listed, but do not see the “Java Platform” plugin often mentioned in instructions for enabling java in Firefox.
My OS is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I have installed java on Ubuntu.
How do I enable Java in Firefox?

Java plugin on the web is not supported, see Use the Java plugin to view interactive content on websites. You would have to install https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=icedtea-plugin and run the file locally.

Firefox since the Firefox 52.0 Release only allows the Flash Player Plugin from Adobe to run whether on Windows, Mac OSX, or Linux.
You can use the Firefox 52 ESR (current build is 52.5.2esr) mentioned in above article in order to run other NPAPI Plugins besides Flash in Firefox such as Java.
Do you really need the Java Plugin from Oracle? as it is separate from the JavaScript in Firefox. http://kb.mozillazine.org/JavaScript_is_not_Java
