when I bookmark a website now I have a bookmark at the top of the list. I also have the same one at the bottom of the list of bookmarks. I right click on the top one but it will not allow me to delete it. If I move this top one to somewhere in the middle of the list it will allow me to delete it but it also deletes the bookmark at the end of the list. I don't want this bookmark at the top as it just adds to the bookmark list. I think it just started after I upgraded to the new firefox. I believe it is 49.0.1.

Right-click that menu item and select Hide Recently Bookmarked or 1. Type about:config in the Address Bar & accept the warranty warning… 2. Type recentlyBookmarked 3. Toggle Value browser.bookmarks.showRecentlyBookmarked to false

Please provide a screenshot.

See this support article. How do I create a screenshot of my problem? It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.

I tried a screen shot but it failed. I clicked on the bookmark and it came down over the screen. Press alt and the bookmark disappeared. Just press PrtScn button and then paste on the windows paint program and just a blue screen comes up.

Hi   !

Have you tried creating a screenshot using the snipping tool   ? If the snipping tool icon isn't in your Windows-start yet:
click on the magnifying glass icon on your task bar and type:   'snipping tool'.

Same as above. If I obtain the snipping tool, once I click on it the bookmark drop down menu disappears. If I obtain the tool first, I can not get the drop down bookmark menu. I am guessing no one else has this problem. Why me? I did not have this problem before. Just lately I am getting a dual copy of the website that I want to bookmark. The top one will not let me delete it. If I move it towards the middle of the list I can then delete it but it also deletes the other one. These top bookmarks are listed between "subcribe to this page" and then "recently bookmark" then the bookmarks I want deleted then "bookmark toolbar" and then "other bookmarks". Hope this helps.

Yes, hitting the Alt key will dismiss the Bookmarks Menu drop-down "hanger"; you need to catch the screeenshot via the PrtScr key alone. And then crop/edit & save the screenshot in a usable format. I have never used the Windows Sniping Tool myself, I have been using the same external Screenshot application in Windows since 1999.

see 1st screenshot Near the top, below where it faintly says Recently Bookmarked, which is new to Firefox 49. Those 5 bookmarks aren't the "real" bookmarks that you saved. That section of the drop-down listing is part of what was formerly part of the "smart bookmarks folders". https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-default-smart-bookmarks-folders None of the "smart folders" contain actual saved bookmarks; those 3 smart folders contain a "survey" or "recent / most" activity indications. The actual saved bookmarks would be in the Mozilla Firefox folder, as depicted in that 1st screenshot. Or they might be in another folder location depending upon how old your collection of bookmarks is or depending upon bookmark folder changes you have made. My screenshots are from barely used "sample Profiles" I have, made from various different versions of Firefox. What the user sees cam vary based upon their usage & customization of Firefox over time.

see my 2nd screenshot In Firefox 48 and earlier there was a folder labeled Recently Bookmarked, that was blue in color, with a magnifying glass icon. And that folder formerly held 10 bookmarks by default.

Also, the Recently Bookmarked area / folder may have bookmarks that were saved to the Bookmarks Toolbar (and the folder labeled as such).

Hi Moderator, YES!! After the faint "recently bookmark" are 5 bookmarks I recently wanted. How can I not have this? I don't want these listed on my drop down bookmark list. It's just a duplicate of a bookmark elsewhere on my bookmark list.

I clicked on and did the about:config and hopefully formed a "smart folder". However, the 5 most recent bookmarks are still there. I closed firefox and restarted my computer What can I do? I don't want it on my list or in the least have it in a folder (smart folder?). How do I do this. Thank you.
