I have every about:config and settings option set to recommended to prevent autoplay videos. NONE work with yahoo. The vids will drop to the lower right hand corner but even if I click on the close window X they still pop open again. And again. And again. Is there a solution to this arrogant, self-centered behaviour by yahoo?

A while back I noticed that my google calendar no longer sends reminders to my gmail (or rather, I suspect, gmail does not receive them). Yesterday I missed an important meeting because of this, so I want to get to the bottom of it. I verified that the reminders are properly set in my calendar, so I have to assume that they are going out. The pop-up windows do pop, so I assume that it is not on the calendar side. I also noted that calendar.google.com and gmail.google.com have the proper permissions to send pop-ups and notifications to gmail, which indicates to me that this end of the equation is working. (Don't know how to isolate the error further, though.) It seems that the Firefox settings need to be changed somehow. Any ideas?

Thank you!

We apparently lost power sometime during the night. When I turned on the monitor and opened FF, I got the error message that it had crashed. As my subject line says, I lost all my tabs, the pinned ones (probably about 10) as well as the open ones (probably between 10 and 15). I also lost all my history. I can't use the 'Restore Previous Session' because it doesn't give me that option.

I've restarted Firefox and also rebooted my computer...still nothing happens. It's up to date, version 133.0. But I have no history beyond this morning. Is there any way I can recover those tabs or history?

And in my FF Settings, there's a link at the top that says "Your browser is being managed by your organization". I don't have or belong to an organization. When I click on the link it takes me to another page that says it's "Active" and there's a huge list of "Documentation" that apparently involves a lot of code. Can you please explain what all that means? Thanks so much for any help!

I seem only to have issues installing the Nightly build. I have successfully installed Firefox's main, beta, and dev builds.

I received the following error/message when installing it. (see attached images)

This issue occurred on a fresh install of Windows 10 directly from Microsoft's image creation tool. I upgraded to Windows 11 and experienced the same behavior. I used the tool Revo Uninstaller to uninstall previous versions of FF completely and used the tool to clean and purge any leftover registry entries and directories. No errors or entries in Event viewer.

Anybody run into this issue?

Several weeks ago, I was attempting to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. In the process, I deleted Firefox (using Revo Uninstaller) and then reinstalled it, downloading it from the Mozilla website. Unfortunately, it didn’t run, giving me, at different attempts, different error messages. In the time since then, I have read many suggestions from many different websites and I have tried some of these suggestions, all with no success – until today. I have just completed the suggestions made on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1327628 and Firefox is now back, working. I am happy and grateful, but not finished. None of my personal data came with the currently functioning version of Firefox. Since the re-emergence of Firefox, I have been reading several websites dealing with copy, backup and restore of my Firefox profile. Right now, the path C:\Users\rsuth\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ shows 5 folders: Two of the folders show 11/11/24 as the date modified (probably the date of the download from Mozilla). The folder 0dppjrfa.default contains one file, times.json, dated 8/11/2020. The other folder, ru82tlj5.default-release, has 97 items, most dated 11/11/2024. The remaining three folders are all dated 12/2/24 (today, as I write this). One folder’s name ends .default, the second name ends .default-release, and the third name ends .default-release-thirteen digits. The question that I am asking here is what do I do next to, hopefully, bring back the personal date I had with Firefox before my updating to Windows 11. Should I delete the folders dated 12/2/24? What, if anything, is the significance of the folder whose name ends in 13 digits? I’m hoping someone will be able to tell me how to fix these Firefox problems. And if I can, then I hope to be able to do something similar to help me bring back Thunderbird as well. Thunderbird became unfunctioning at the same time as Firefox. Thank you.

Been using Firefox since the 90s and been on Mac since 2000s. This problem has been happening for about a year, throughout three macbooks (my old one, a temp one, and my new one) and multiple Firefox updates. I'm always updated and always clear cookies daily.

The failure to move bookmarks I can overcome by rebooting Firefox with a Forced Quit. If I only have to do this every few weeks, then no biggy reinserting all my passwords for all the different sites I use (and no, I don't want to use password managers, I don't trust them)

Today it happened within hours of Force Quitting Firefox, this is too much!!!

The only reason I didn't report this problem earlier is I simply expected an eventual newer version of Firefox to fix this bug.

Firefox 133.0

Normal behaviour: click-drag bookmark within bookmark menu pull-down to position where I want bookmark Failure behaviour: click-drag fails to move bookmark, until I reboot Firefox, then it works again

Firefox has an excellent built-in screenshot feature that allows users to take full page screenshots of web pages. I am a Mac user. I use Sugarsync cloud service to keep my Mac Studio desktop (OS 12.6.3 Monterey) and Macbook Air (OS 13.3 Ventura) laptop in sync. I am running Firefox 133.0.

I have noticed that Firefox .png screenshots have not been uploading properly to Sugarsync for the last 6 months or so. In Finder a green tick appears which indicates that a file has been properly uploaded to SugarSync but when I go to the Sugarsync app I can see the following error message for such files "Waiting on upload from Mac Studio". This means that screenshots I take on my desktop do not go across to my laptop and vice versa.

I spoke to the very helpful tech support (Luis M, senior tech support) at Sugarsync today and he and his colleague were able to figure out that the problem has to do with the attributes of the saved .png files.

I will outline the issue in detail:

On a Mac you can examine the attributes of a file by doing the following: - right click on the folder in which your file is located and click "new terminal at folder". This opens a new terminal window - type the following: xattr -l and then drag and drop the file name from finder next to the "xattr -l" and then insert a space, a dot and a forward slash and press enter, i.e. myusername@NameOfMyComputer Foldername % xattr -l full path and file name ./

For example if I take a screenshot of the following URL: https://www.mlb.com/ and I save the screenshot in a folder I have named "Firefox Screenshots" it saves as as "Screenshot 2024-12-07 at 14-48-02 MLB.com The Official Site of Major League Baseball" on my computer. I can examine it's attributes in terminal using the steps outlined above:

myusername@NameOfMyComputer Firefox Screenshots % xattr -l /Users/myusername/Firefox\ Screenshots/Screenshot\ 2024-12-07\ at\ 14-46-28\ The\ New\ York\ Times\ -\ Breaking\ News\ US\ News\ World\ News\ and\ Videos.png ./

When I click enter it generates a massive amount of information that looks like this: /Users/myusername/Firefox Screenshots/Screenshot 2024-12-07 at 14-46-28 The New York Times - Breaking News US News World News and Videos.png: com.apple.metadata:kMDItemWhereFroms: bplist00?_ /Users/myusername/Firefox Screenshots/Screenshot 2024-12-07 at 14-46-28 The New York Times - Breaking News US News World News and Videos.png: com.apple.quarantine: 0081;6753c517;Firefox;0F67116D-C970-45CB-A578-65EAFC93F6DD myusername@NameOfMyComputer Firefox Screenshots % xattr -l /Users/myusername/Firefox\ Screenshots/Screenshot\ 2024-12-07\ at\ 14-48-02\ MLB.com\ The\ Official\ Site\ of\ Major\ League\ Baseball.png ./ /Users/myusername/Firefox Screenshots/Screenshot 2024-12-07 at 14-48-02 MLB.com The Official Site of Major League Baseball.png: com.apple.metadata:kMDItemWhereFroms: bplist00?_Q?^data:image/png;base64,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 etc etc etc

The total output is over 19 million characters long due to the long alphabet soup that is generated. And this why Sugarsync is unable to properly upload the file.

You can retrospectively fix folders that contain .png files that will not properly upload to Sugarsync by right clicking on a folder, selecting "new terminal at folder" and typing the following: xattr -d -r com.apple.metadata:kMDItemWhereFroms ./

This fixes the attributes and the .png screenshots files immediately start to upload to Sugarsync. When you examine the attributes of the file again it shows the following:

/Users/myusername/Firefox Screenshots/Screenshot 2024-12-07 at 14-48-02 MLB.com The Official Site of Major League Baseball.png: com.apple.quarantine: 0081;6753c575;Firefox;D5072DFA-9EE8-4EF1-9658-86263462F1CD.

Could the Firefox developers please look at this issue and liaise with Sugarsync?

Many thanks in advance.
