I keep getting asked to download an important security update which will make some of my add-ons incompatible. I don't want to lose my add-ons.

I love Firefox add-ons. Some are quite brilliant. Why then would I want to lose them - or at least some of them - to download an important security update? This has been going on for about three weeks. I want the security update but I do not want to lose any of my add-ons. Doesn't that make sense - or am I just a dumb Aussie. (Seriously, though, why would anyone want to be on the internet without FIREFOX. Love it!!)

Chosen solution

Hi ian.rolph,

It is important to use the latest version of Firefox because of all the new features and (as mentioned) security updates. One of the things that makes Firefox so amazing is that it is constantly improving.

I understand your hesitation, but please be aware that as of FF 10 the default is to assume that an addon is compatible unless otherwise noted, whereas the older versions used to assume that add0ns were not compatible. So you should see less and less issues upgrading. Also, since Firefox is now on a rapid release cycle addon developers will be more conscious of keeping things up to date. At least that is the hope!

Hopefully this helps!
