A laptop I just got that must be used on WiFi cannot connect on the installed IE browser even though WiFi does connect to the PC. The problem is that that IE is blocking the Comcast cable. I always use Firefox, but can't download it without the Internet connection. I have the version setup that I have used for this OS, but it isn't transferred onto a CD/DVD to load directly. Since this "Setup" program isn't really on the PC or a backup CD it cannot load Firefox without the Internet.

Where are the CD/DVDs with this older program to install Firefox on a non-Net connected PC? Or, even a direct download onto a CD/DVD that would install the program.

this should be an easy fix for the comcast tech support ! right?

and its highly likely that if you did install another browser, it would be blocked as well.

however, you can always download firefox onto usb stick and copy from the computer you are using at this time to the one that lacks it.

incidentally, try creating a new user account. then log into it and see if the problem fixes.

Using another computer, Download Firefox Full Version For All Languages And Systems onto a thumb drive. After, plug the thumb into your system. http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

I had marked for problem solved before I posted how I had to do it. I could not use a thumb drive as I could not find any of mine. I also found that what was stopping downloads was that IE had to be a later version, and that I had to update Win7 to, at least, Service Pk 1. After doing some updating to iE 11 from IE 8, and getting the SP 1 plus a few other updates, the Mozilla Offline method worked to get the latest Firefox installed. I just used a previous CD of the later Firefox. I also got the WiFi to work, finally.

Thanks for the great info and assistance,. Dave.
